Urban Decay is introducing 3 new palettes for their Holiday 2012 collection, each meant to evoke a side that every woman possesses. Each palette contains 6 of the recently reformulated eye shadows and coordinating Lip Junkie Lip Gloss, housed in a zip-around case. Here’s the scoop!

Now that I have had time to test out the UD Pro discount and how it works and I can speak on a few pros and cons associated with it.
40% discount – Obviously, a discount for MUA’s and other professionals is always a “pro”, but unlike some other programs the Urban Decay offers a flat 40% discount regardless of what you qualify as.
No Membership Fee – UD offers their program to those that qualify with no strings attached. You don’t pay to be in the club…you just need to prove that you qualify to be in it!
No Codes To Remember – In a world where everything has a special code or password to it, UD doesn’t complicate the process for getting your discount. Just log in to the UD Pro page and start adding things to your cart. When you get ready to checkout you will see your discount applied automatically.
Auto-reminders – You don’t have to worry about remembering when it’s time for you to renew your membership. UD will remind you so you don’t have to worry about your membership lapsing!
Discount Works on Most Items – Although there are some items that your discount can’t go towards it is safe to say that most products (including new releases) are eligible. From personal experience, it also works on many sale and/clearance items and even on some sets. Don’t be surprised if some of those coveted sets are excluded. An example would be the Naked 2 Palette.
$250 limit per Quarter – You are limited to only $250 per quarter on what you can save on. It appears that this limit is based on the full retail price and not on the amount you spend after discount. For a MUA or other professional that uses products often and may need to replenish more often than the normal person you will see this limit is easy to hit. Luckily, you don’t have to keep up with the tab…when you log in to your account you will see how much you have left on your limit and when it resets. Unfortunately, I think this is probably the biggest negative to the program. It is likely the pay-off we get for not having to pay a membership fee, but it could be well worth it for high users to opt for a limit free discount program that requires an annual fee to use. I would like to see see UD consider this (perhaps as an option in addition to the fee-free membership for those that need it).
Can Only Be Used On-line – If you find yourself in immediate need of a product you will have to pay full retail for it unless you can wait for it to shipped to you. There are no membership cards that can be shown in a retail location for discount use. This is probably a no-brainer since UD in the USA is sold in retailers such as Ulta, Sephora, and Macy’s which do not usually honor Pro Discounts at their counters.
Lackluster UD Pro Site – Although this is not a huge deal it would be nice if logging in to the Pro site meant you would get access to special, Pro only information and tips….and more importantly, access to products that are exclusive to Pros. Unfortunately, this is not the case right now. You are shopping from virtually the same inventory as all other customers and you don’t get your hands on any special treats that are not available to the general public. I would love to see this happen in the future. For example, Pro sizes in more of the staple products (such as all of the Primer Potions instead of just the original, which is not exclusive to anyone) and exclusive products such as pigments or Pro tools.
Overall, I love the UD Pro Discount Program. As I stated before, any discount available to those of us in the industry is always a plus and is extremely helpful in making it more affordable for us to do what we do with the products we love to work with. I hope to see it improve in the future, but for now it’s pretty great for a program that is free to join and has such a generous discount.
***As always, the products that I review are purchased by me unless otherwise stated. I am not compensated in any way by the brand or their PR firms. In some cases, I may add advertiser links to my blog that may generate a small compensation fee if a user clicks on them and makes a purchase, but this in no way affects my reviews or the products I am willing to review. My reviews are based on honest observations and feelings derived from my own personal experience with the product(s) used. It is always my goal to give my readers the most unbiased and honest information that I can possibly provide!***
I finally got my hands on the Shu Uemura Orange & Pistachio Eye Palette from the Chocolat Donna Collection (unfortunately, the one I was supposed to receive earlier this month ordered from the Shu Uemura website never arrived). For now, I’ll post a few quick thoughts and color swatches. I’ll do a look soon and post it!
Urban Decay fans get ready! UD has released an eye pencil set that they say is “like a box of crayons for adults!”.

The set mixes FOUR new and EXCLUSIVE brights and shimmers with some of our best-selling, sexy shades. We also included a Grind House Double Barrel Sharpener, for the ultimate 24/7 set! The craziest thing might be the price: $59 for eight full-sized pencils – that’s a value of $152! Good morning everyone! I woke up early and decided to check the UD website…with the original intent to ONLY browse. Instead, I ended up ordering 10 Vintage eye shadows that were on sale for $9.00 (reg. $18). PLUS I got to use my 40% off UD Pro discount…so yes, I am a very happy makeup obsessed girl lol. If you’re in the need (or just want) some UD products you should head over to the website and check out the sale items. Although I only indulged in the shadows (and replenished my 24/7 eyeliners) there are other sale items including lipsticks, some palettes, etc. Even if you don’t have the Pro discount you will still see significant savings on those items. Plus, if you have been wanting some of the current shadow colors that were released in the new formulation (read my review!) you can save 50% and buy some of the same colors in the vintage shadows. The formula for the vintage shadows is still pretty amazing…and as some may have noticed or pointed out, the difference isn’t enough to make you replace old colors you already have. There are also several colors in the vintage collection that are not in the new formulation (which leads me to believe that they may be considered discontinued).
Happy shopping, ladies!

This is a quick review about the Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash. I have been using this particular face wash for about 8 months now so I feel like I can give a pretty accurate review about it. If you are an acne sufferer or just someone that feels like their skin is less perfect than they would like it to be, then this may be a great wash for you to consider. I would warn that if you have dry skin this would NOT be the product for you…or you may need to work more on your hydration needs (a better moisturizer for example or alternating this with a more gentle face wash that you could use on your morning skin care routine).
This product is part of the Medibac skin care program, which is targeted to those with Acne/breakout prone.05% concerns. It is a clear gel wash that contains 0.5% Salicylic Acid. If you are new to using any face wash with Salicylic Acid or the one you use has a lower amount then you may need to start of using this only once per day to get your skin used to it. Also, if you use any topical treatments you will also need to gradually introduce this to your program as the combination would likely dry your skin out initially. I personally am an Acne sufferer and use a rx topical treatment along with this face wash and did initially experience drier skin (something I always experience when using any gel cleanser) mainly because I started using it during the drier winter months. Changing my mositurizer to my dry skin go-to helped combat this.
My personal experience with this face wash has been amazing! It is especially helpful to me during the spring and summer months where the heat and humidity really increase my oiliness. I have used this when I was not on rx medication for several months and it continued to work well (I added another Medibac product to the routine to combat my acne during that time, which was the Special Clearing Booster. That is a Benzoyl Peroxide concentrate that is stronger than most over the counter options. Another option for someone that doesn’t need BP is the Overnight Clearing Gel which is more gentle and is included in the kit or can be purchased alone). Although my skin issues require extra attention (hence my use of a rx medication) I can say that this product works better than most for anyone with breakout prone skin. My mother uses it for her breakout prone non-acne skin and it has dramatically decreased her issues to only one or two small pimples a month.
It can be purchased alone or as part of the Medibac skin care kit, which contains small bottles of products meant to give you a 30 or 60 day regimen. The negative to this product…and the Dermalogica brand as a whole is the price. I have found that you can often find Dermalogica products on sale at beauty.com for far cheaper than the retail prices at places such as Ulta. Dermalogica is almost always excluded from any coupons or discounts Ulta offers.
Overall, I would highly recommend this product (and a few others from this brand that I may do reviews on later) for anyone that isn’t satisfied with their current skin care cleanser and has breakout prone skin, acne, and/or oily skin. If you are near an Ulta or other retailer that sells Dermalogica I would suggest stopping by and having a free Face Mapping analysis done by a Dermalogica skin therapist (anywhere that legitimately sales their products will have at least one specially trained representative on site) to find the right products for you. As a side-note, I also highly recommend the Murad brand of products which is what I used prior to switching to Dermalogica and which I still use when my skin needs a more moisturizing acne-focused face wash or when I transition to my day skincare routine that differs from my night one. My teenage son currently uses their gel face wash and it works great for him!

The Fall collection Chocolat Donna for Shu Uemura has been released and it definitely appears to be a beaut! So much so that I have decided to spurlge and order one of the beautiful palettes! I will share which one as soon as it arrives and of course provide a Quick Review with swatches and initial impression. I will also follow up with a more detailed review and look.
In the meantime, here is a little info about the new collection:
“fadeless blissful memories reawake with a mystic marriage of sweetness. shu uemura offers you a choco-inspired make-up collection, evoking joyful memories in your life; celebrate the present moment to write your own blissful story.” -Shu Uemura website.
The line offers 3 eyeshadow palettes: Orange and Pastachio, Raspberry and Mocha, and Mint and Vanilla. There are also 2 Glow On (blushes) in Framboisier and Apricot. There are supposed to be 2 nail polishes available, but when looking at the US site they do not appear. Unfortunately, this brand is no longer available in retail stores in the US so we can only place orders online. You can head over to the Shu Uemura website to read more details about the collection! http://www.shuuemura-usa.com/_us/_en/collections/seasonal/chocolat-donna/index.aspx
