MAC’s latest collection, All About Orange released online last Thursday and as usual the lipsticks sold out quickly. If you missed out you have another shot in-stores on June 6th! The collection features 7 lipsticks. Below are the colors and their descriptions according to MAC.
- Sushi Kiss – Satin formula mid-tone coral cream
- Sweet & Sour – Cremesheen formula soft peach cream
- Tangerine Dream – Lustre formula warm orange cream
- Razzledazzler – Lustre formula light cream peach
- Neon Orange – Amplified formula bright clean orange
- Tart & Trendy – Lustre formula bright neutral orange cream
- Flamingo – Lustre formula light milky bright coral
The majority of this release was in the Lustre formula while there was only one each of the Satin, Cremesheen, and Amplified formulas. Although the collection is named “All About Orange” the truth is that most of the lipsticks are not orange at all. On me, all of the lipsticks applied semi-opaque (and could easily be applied more on the semi-sheer side) except for Sweet & Sour, which leaned more on the opaque and milky side…and Neon Orange, which applied opaque and creamy. All of the colors EXCEPT for Neon Orange are LE although Neon Orange is a Pro Permanent color (which means it may or may not be easily found at MAC counters that are found in department stores). You may notice that Neon Orange is shown as LE on the MAC website but this is probably due to it not being a “regular” color and being found in the “pro” products listing.
I haven’t really had time to test these for wear time since I just received all of them today (6/3/2013) along with several other items, but in general I tend to get 4+ hours out of Amplified formulas , 2.5-3 hrs out of Lustre formulas, and about 4 hrs out of both Satin and Cremesheen formulas. Neon Orange was the most pigmented color on me while Sweet & Sour was the most drying of the bunch (although I use the word drying loosely as it doesn’t compare to matte formulas and their drying effects).
As mentioned above, you can shop this collection in stores on 6/6/2013. You can also check retailer websites for their online releases (Macy’s and Nordstrom released online on 6/3/2013. Others may have also or will be soon).
